Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled. Titus 1:15  

You may be wondering what it means to be pure. Knowing the weaknesses of men, can anyone be pure? The pure we are talking about here is the condition of the mind-set. What a person has fed his mind will greatly determine the state of their heart and mind.

In the opening scripture, Paul is talking about people who have received Christ and are in the church. Depending on what they feed their minds with, they are either pure or defiled.

To be defiled is to be contaminated or polluted with what God detests. How can a Christian be defiled? Jesus said, not that which goes into the mouth defiles a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defiles a man, Mat 15:11. How can something come out except it first went in? When we give ourselves to hearing fear and gossip, to finding of faults, to listening to wrong doctrine, or to being amused by evil speech and the harbouring of evil; our mind-sets become programmed to produce thoughts that are consistent with these things, and as such we defile ourselves, when we start doubting God’s word and speak thoughts of unbelief.

If you are a child of God, endeavor to keep yourself pure. To be pure requires holding firm onto the faithful word of God, sincerely believing and hoping in what it says. Scripture reminds us that, Every man that has this hope in him purifies himself, 1John 3:3.

So, Having the sound doctrine in your heart will program your heart to produce thoughts that are consistent with the will of God. When you come at this level of thinking, you will be pure and able to see that all things are possible in God. Nothing will be impossible for you. Despite what others may say and what the situation around you may be, because of the sound doctrine in you, you will see that all things are possible in Christ Jesus.

If you are a child of God, endeavour to keep yourself pure. To be pure requires holding firm onto the faithful word of God, sincerely believing and hoping in what it says. Avoid people that make a career out of finding faults, planning and speaking evil. Because when you are away from them, they will do the same to you. Give yourself to those who see the best out of others.

Prayer 

Dear Heavenly Father, I thank  you for your word. I pray you  renew my heart that I may be  pure. May your word cleanse me  and give me a pure consciousness,  in Jesus name I pray, amen.
