And they shall build the old wastes, they shall raise up the former desolations, and they shall repair the waste cities, the desolations of many generations. Isaiah 61:4
When Christians discover what Christ has made them to be, they leave no place for languishing in lack. Every place on earth where they place their feet begins shining and bursting with life.
Just as a woman is created to give birth, a believer is recreated to be fruitful and resourceful. Do not despise yourself as worthless, you are an agent of God, designed to rebuild old wasted places. When you know who you are, you will raise up former desolations, and repair waste cities.
You see, as a believer in Christ you are a new species. God recreated you in the creative likeness of Christ Jesus, (Eph 2:10; 4:23-24; Col 3:10). The spirit in you has been reborn, not out of corruptible things, but out of the incorruptible, which is the word of God (1 Pet 1:23). This Word of God works in you to enable you to do the works of God.
The bible says in the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God, John 1:1. God used his Word to create the world that we see. Scripture says, through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear, Heb 11:3. For instance, during creation God said let there be light, and there was light. That light is the evidence of the unseen word that spoke the light into existence. Wherever that light shines, it does what God wanted it to do. It makes plants grow and it signifies daytime.
By this same word, God has recreated the believer. The believer is the physical evidence of the word. As the word of God had the power to create light, that same word works in a believer to use him in rebuilding desolated places. Wherever the believer stands, wherever the believe goes and whatever the believer says, ought to reflect the power and abilities of Gods word. By the words we speak, we can build places; we can build lives, we can repair broken families and societies, we can restore hope in hopeless situations.
For this reason, it is in your nature as a believer in Christ to exercise your God given ability to build up people. Build up their hope, build up their self-esteem, build up their courage, and make them to feel worthy again. All you need to do is to keep enriching yourself with the word of Christ. Nothing builds up a person as the word of God does. Hunger for the word of God like a baby yearns for milk. It will build you up that you may build up other lives around you.
Confession
The Lord has made me a rebuilder. I build old waste places. In Christ Jesus, I encourage and renew people’s hope. With the word of God, I speak life into situations and they revive. Wherever I go, lives are renewed and strengthened, in Jesus name, amen.
