And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgement; that ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ; Phil 1:9‐10
We all love in part because we know in part. Love that is based on no knowledge may not stand the test of time. Love that is founded on fetish things will end in disappointment. Love that is based on knowledge will stand the test of time.
Some people have received Jesus Christ as their saviour, but have not grown in loving Him. As such, their commitment is shallow; their Christian life is of the socialising kind and not of the spirit. They have no personal spiritual development. Eventually they will always find someone to blame, either the church or their spouse, for their spiritual draught, all because their love has not abounded in knowledge.
In the scriptures of Luke 7:36ff, a sinful woman came to anoint the feet of Jesus with expensive ointment oil. After others around had despised the act, Jesus narrated a parable to Simon the House host and said, there was a certain creditor which had two debtors: the one owed five hundred pence, and the other fifty. And when they had nothing to pay, he frankly forgave them both. Tell me therefore, which of them will love him most? Simon answered and said, I suppose that he, to whom he forgave most. Then Jesus said to him, Thou hast rightly judged. In conclusion, Jesus said, wherefore I say unto thee, her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little Luke 7:47.
Note that in this parable, not all who were around were better off than the woman was. They too had their sins that needed to be forgiven, but this woman by acknowledging what Jesus did for her, she showed her love to the master without hesitation.
Today many people love little because they have not developed their love in the knowledge of what the Lord has done. Some even say I was not such a bad person. Some do not participate in the church life at all because they have not grown in knowledge of what Jesus did for the church. No wonder some are miserable.
As Christian, we ought to develop our love with knowledge. Acknowledge what Jesus has done in our lives. He died to set us free. By his grace and his faith we are saved from the wrath to come. Lets Love Him by telling Him how He has changed our lives. Tell Him you acknowledge how he has forgiven you. The knowledge of what He did for you ought to be the inspiration of your Love. So get to know how much He forgave you that you may love Him more to prove and benefit from the excellent things He offers.

Dear Jesus, I thank you for loving me. You loved me with your own life when you died on the cross for my sins. You have changed my life and filled me with the Holy Spirit. I love you so much for all you have done for me. In Jesus name, I pray, amen
