The Lord says, “I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name. When they call on me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue them and honor them. I will satisfy them with a long life and give them my salvation.
Psalms 91:14‐16 NLT
As believer we must take God's commitment to our wellbeing seriously. We must fervently believe in God's unfailing promises that we may benefit from his provision in our physical life. We are only able to enjoy God's blessing in proportion to the promises we have believed.
All believers have a lot to gain when they depend on the assurances of God. Throughout the Holy Bible, God has set mechanisms that require our participation for us to benefit from their effects. He sets the stage in which He calls us to partake in the production that we may benefit in the outcome.
For instance, He has set the principles of sowing and harvest to the life span of the earth that whoever lives in the earth is affected by this principle whether he knows or not. When a man plants his seeds, he does not know how or when the seeds bring forth their fruits, but as he sleeps and wakes, the plant brings forth its fruits and a harvest is brought home. All the man had to do is to obey the settings of God, seedtime and harvest.
The opening scripture is a great example of cause and effect mechanisms. The love one has for God is what in effect attracts God to rescue the person. One’s trust in God’s name is what in effect attracts God’s protection. It is our calling on God, which makes Him to answer us when we are in trouble. What we do is what causes God to react.
However, sometimes when we do these things, we may not really see the effects as we expect them. Nevertheless, as a farmer puts the seeds in the ground during seedtime and knows not what happens to the seed but waits for a harvest after a period, we also continue to love God, trust in God’s name, and call on Him. We may not know what happens after we do these things, but the results are undeniable.
Repeatedly we see situations working out in our favour. We may not have seen God physically orchestrating events in our favour, but we know that because we love Him, we were rescued; because we trusted in His name, we were protected; because we called on Him when we were in trouble, answers to situations came our way.
Therefore, you too ought to rely on God’s assurances. What He sets out to do for you, he will do when you prompt Him with your obedience. God is waiting on you to step up to His settings that you may benefit from His assurances. You only have to exercise obedience, and it will be the cause for God’s reaction. Go ahead and benefit from God’s assurances.
