Seest thou a man diligent in his business? He shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men. Proverbs 22:29
One of the known secrets of life is that diligence has rewards. To be diligent is to be careful, meticulous, or thorough in what one is doing. Such people avoid mistakes, but if they make mistakes, they are careful to learn from the experience never to repeat it. To be diligent is to be industrious and hard-working, never giving into slackness. As stated in the opening scripture, these kinds of people have a quality that attracts them to people of high status like Kings.
Any place worth going to will cost you to get there. Similarly, to get your life to another level, you must be prepared to acquire qualities that will draw you to that level and sustain you there too. It is of no good to you, to sit and admire to be something that you are not prepared to bear. For instance, do not admire having a car when you are not prepared to pay for driving lessons, insurance, road tax, fuel, and maintenance. Everything you desire comes with attached responsibilities that require one to be diligent in meeting them.
Diligence makes one rich. Scripture says He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich. Prov. 10:4. As you practice diligence, you will avoid mistakes in your life as you develop a pattern of doing things without rushing. The result will be to have plenty of time and resources as scripture says the thoughts of the diligent tend only to plenteousness; but of everyone that is hasty only to want. Prov. 21:5
As you practice diligence, you may not know it, but someone is watching you. Even God is watching you as the scripture say He rewards those that seek him diligently, Heb 11:6. In whatever you do, the level of diligence you use will reward you. When you fail having done all you can, get up, cast the dust off yourself and try again. Your failure has just taught you how not to do it, and if you keep at it, soon you will see your handwork rewarded.
So, keep on practising your diligence. Be diligent in going to church, in reading God’s word, in working on your career and it will pay off. As you perfect your skill, you will become a leading force in what you do. Eventually, others will pay for what you diligently committed yourself to do. Scripture says the hand of the diligent shall bear rule: but the slothful shall be under tribute, Prov.12:24. Therefore, the ancient secret of life I have for you today is to keep on being diligent. It will pay off.
