In the morning sow thy seed, and in the evening withhold not thine hand: for thou knowest not whether shall prosper, either this or that, or whether they both shall be alike good. Eccl 11:6
In life, nothing just happens. Everything has a reason for its occurrence. Life is a chain reaction of events. Whatever we do, will either be a cause of an event or a consequence of what happened before. Simply put, we reap what we sow and sow what we reap. Life without seed sown has no future.
The seed of anything carries the future possibilities and benefits. The seed is a capsule of potential. The least a seed could be without sowing is itself. When sown, the seed has the potential to multiply into numerous possibilities.
Jesus was the seed for the future of the Christian faith. He equated himself to a seed when he said, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it dies, it bringeth forth much fruit. John 12:24. So, believers today are the fruits of Christ the seed that died and rose to bring many to life. Implying the future of Christianity is secure because Christ, the perfect seed is always bringing forth fruit. A life without sowing is uncertain of the future as its limited to a measure of its own self, with limited possibilities of progress.
The opening verse admonishes us to sow seeds expecting them to prosper. A Sower must sow and prepare for a future harvest. Many people always wonder why they never increase. It is because they concentrate on achieving a harvest that has no seed. Everything you have in your life has a seed factor in it. It has a potential to produce the things that you want in your life. A seed is any given thing that can make a world of difference in another person’s life. It may be your time to comfort someone or your possession.
Scripture says while the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease. Gen 8:22. This amazing truth reveals that life on earth is tied to sowing and reaping. God tied this principle to the life span of the earth. Just as winter affects anyone living in wintery areas, anyone who lives in the earth faces seedtime and harvest. You either practice sowing, or you do not, but the opportunities to sow for a harvest are always available. This gives us a perspective that lack is a result of choice. When you chose not to sow, you chose not to harvest. But be wise and sow good seeds. Allow the principles of life to work in your favour. Sow seeds that are beneficial to you, but helpful to others. Sow patience, love, time, kindness, they will come back to you exceedingly.
You see, scripture says be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man sows, that shall he also reap. Gal 6:7. God is the Lord of harvest and be sure he will not mistake your harvest. He will give you what you sowed. Therefore, sow your good seeds and be the person you want others to be to you. Put a smile on someone’s face. Find a good ground, like the House of God and sow your seed into God’s work. A life of sowing seeds has a future in waiting, therefore sow and set forth your future.
Prayer Dear Heavenly Father, I pray I take advantage of the sowing times you bring in my life. I pray I recognize the seeds I have in my life which I can sow to expect a harvest. I thank you that my harvest will not delay, but it will come to me in its due time. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
