Patient endurance is what you need now, so you will continue to do God’s will. Then you will receive all that he has promised. Heb 10:36 NLT
When you ask any athlete, how to win a race, the majority will tell you it is all about training preparations. When you ask a student how to pass a test, the majority will tell you it takes revision. All these occupations can only thrive under good preparation. Preparation is the process of mastering a skill. It involves rigorous training, dedication, painstaking research, and all aspects that put you in perfect shape for the moment of glory. The bottom line of all this is patience. It takes patience to perfect a winning routine.
Similarly, to attain the promises of God, we ought to measure up to the required standard. God has set Christ for us as the winning standard. He desires that we all be conformed to the image of His son. To acquire this standard we must endure being taught God’s word, endure correction and rebuke; forsake worldly ways, drop carnal habits, persevere in losing friends because of our faith, that we may attain that which is set for us. This requires patience, a character of bravery.
In the Bible, Paul said I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should. Otherwise, I fear that after preaching to others I myself might be disqualified. 1 Cor. 9:27 NLT. You too ought to patiently, persevere in learning to live the Christian life. Be brave to confront any habit that robs you of the promises of God. Stand firm on God’s word and exercise your faith. In due time, you will attain the prize. Only the brave win the prize, so be brave and exercise patience.
